Austin Community

Last evening, I attended the first of many Austin PPA meetings. I've been a member of the National PPA (Professional Photographers Association) for a while now, and it provides a ton of great resources to photographers like Elizabeth and I.  However, there isn't much of a community to get plugged into at the national-level, so I started searching around for people to connect with here in Austin. Fortunately, Austin has a small pocket of phenominal photographers that gather at the Austin chapter of PPA.

I must admit, I was worried that I'd encounter more egos than "hello's", but I was totally surprised. Everyone I met was super friendly and eager to get to know me. In a way, I expected to meet my competition, but truthfully, it felt like a room full of colleagues willing to share their latest tips and tricks.  What a great community.

So, thanks to Jill, Ed, Wayne, Robbie, Doug, and a bunch of other great photographers for making me feel so welcome!  I look forward to getting to know all of you better in the coming months/years.
