How did you two meet?

Geneva: I was working at a local Cafe in Manor as a cashier. Tyler was a police officer there and would occasionally eat at the Cafe. Now, I don't believe in love at first sight, but when I first saw Tyler I just new that I was going to marry him. We would talk every once in awhile, but it was about a year after first meeting him that he finally got up the courage (if you can call it that haha) to give me his number in October 2007. We had both been working that night, and he had come in for dinner. We talked a little before his break was over and he went back to work. I was really busy that night, but I did notice that about 5 minutes after he had left he was back at the Cafe. He walked up to the register and told me he had forgotten to buy a cookie for his mom. After he was done paying he handed me a folded piece of paper and practically ran out of the restaurant. I threw it away thinking it was just trash and went back to work. About 30 minutes later I couldn't shake the feeling that maybe, just maybe, that hadn't been trash and that I should check to just be sure. I dug through the trash can (this sounds gross, but because I was a cashier it was only filled with paper haha) and found the paper he had given me. Sure enough, he had written his number down. I was so excited! Later that night we started talking, and went on our first date a few days later!

Tyler: I was working in Manor as a police officer and would occasionally go eat at the Cafe. I had noticed Geneva when I was there, and like she said, I can't quite explain it but I was drawn to her.  I ended up writing down my number because I couldn't get up enough courage to outright ask her for her number (Geneva will never let me live this down ).  The good thing is that even though I wasn't brave enough to ask her, she still called me and we ended up where we are now!

Tell us about the proposal.

Geneva: It was July 2008 when he proposed. I had surprised him with tickets to a Houston Astros game earlier that morning. On the way back Tyler insisted that we go to the park that we had gone to on our first date. Now, Tyler is horrible about keeping surprises. I was positive that when he did decide to propose that I would know what was coming. Well, even though Tyler insisted that we go to the park that day, it never crossed my mind what he had planned for me. We got to the park and he took me to one of the places that we had sat and talked at during our first date. I was walking in front of him, and when I turned around he got down on one knee and proposed! It was amazing, and I am so glad that he managed to surprise me too

Tyler: Geneva had bought tickets for a Houston Astros game. When we got back to Austin I insisted that we should go to the park that we went to during our first date. So after arriving at the park we walked down to the creek to this one spot that we always went to. Geneva was walking in front of me, and when we stopped I had dropped to one knee and pulled out the ring.  Geneva was so shocked when I asked her to marry me that I had to ask for her answer because she was not responding.  It was really great to see the shock on her face.

Tell us about your wedding. Where did it take place? When? What is your favorite memory of that day? Any fun details?

Geneva: Our wedding took place at Tyler's parents house on August 1st, 2009. The ceremony and reception were both held in the backyard, and with it being in Texas during August I was really worried about how hot it would be. It ended up being a beautiful sunny day in the 70's. Absolutely perfect! During the reception, Tyler and I decided to sit alone together instead of having a wedding party table. I was told by many people that on your wedding day everything seems to go by in a blur. So we decided to take the chance to be able to sit down, just the two of us, and enjoy 30 minutes alone to really cherish the moment. Other than getting married to my best friend and the love of my life that day, this was probably my favorite memory. I would recommend it to anyone!

Tyler: I think the funniest moment at our wedding was actually after we got to our hotel later that night. My best man and groomsmen had decked out our car, so before we left my parents house we took most of the "extra" items off. Well, once we got to the hotel in San Antonio we were unloading our stuff and realized that there was a pair of granny panties stuck in the back door of our car. It was so funny that we drove from Georgetown to San Antonio with those panties flapping in the wind

Why did you choose Gruene as the location for your session?

Geneva: My family used to spend the day walking around and looking in the shops in Gruene, and after Tyler and I got together it was one of our favorite things to do. The town is absolutely beautiful and the people there are so sweet. We visit at least 3 times a year and enjoy ourselves each time!

What is something you have learned in your marriage, that has helped you both, that you would like to share?

Geneva: Most importantly, I have learned that without God in a relationship, it won't last. It's hard for me to not idolize Tyler because he is my best friend and I do love him with everything I have, so I have to remind myself that God should be put first in our relationship. Because without Him, we are nothing. Second, once you have kids it is a big struggle to maintain your relationship with your spouse. It changes a lot, there is less time to spend alone with each other, and children can be very time consuming. I have learned through watching friends and family members that it is so very important to set aside time each and every day to spend alone with one another.
Tyler: I have learned that in marriage there are a lot of compromises. We have learned to stay true to ourselves and to try and respect each others space and wishes. Marriage takes a lot of work on both people to make sure things run smoothly.  I think one of the most important things for me is to remember that not only is Geneva my wife and the one person that I love more than anything, but also my best friend. I couldn't ask for anything else in a wife.

  1. The pictures are amazing...I can't stop looking at them! You not only did an amazing job, but you are so sweet and helped both of us feel so comfortable. Tyler hates pictures, but he kept telling me how much fun he had after we were done. Job well done! :)
