I am so, so happy and in love with these photos. I've been wanting to get some photos of him in this fedora and he was so cooperative. Not with the being still part but definitely with the letting mommy dress him up part.
Eighteen months! How did that happen? He's definitely a toddler now. We went for his 18 month well check today and he is off the charts in the height department. 35 inches. He gained a few pounds too but that didn't help him keep these pants up at all. They are 12 month size and would not stay on his waist. You can tell they are riding low in a few shots.
He loves to tell you about things. Like how he bumped his head. Or where he got a scrape on his knee. Or that the rain and thunder were outside. And he remembers! He'll tell me about something that happened 3 days before. He's not really talking in sentences or anything, most of his 'stories' are gibberish and a lot of hand motions and facial expressions but I get the gist and talk along.
He's also really good at pointing out and recognizing people in photos. He can say a few names too like Oma, Opa, Grandma (MaMaMa), Dada and Mama. Maria is still variation on Ii-a.
Light is his new favorite word and he points them out wherever we are. He is going to go nuts at Christmas time. We also got him to say yo-yo which is pretty funny.
He is a bundle of energy and keeps me on my toes. We are definitely going through a lot of no-nos right now. He likes to test us and see what he can get away with. Or he'll give us this facial expression, like he is saying, yes, I understand you don't want me to do this but don't you understand I still want to do it? So hard to not laugh sometimes.
I thought I knew how this parenting thing was going to work before we were pregnant or had William. Boy, was I wrong. Some days it's a struggle to be the adult. Some days I want to give up. Some days I am pretty sure I've messed him up for life. We definitely don't have it figured out and are learning right along with William. The past month or two has been the hardest so far since his personality is stronger and he is so much more active. All I can do is take it a day at a time because we have so many more good days than bad and for that I am grateful.
